How to Succeed
Until you have a winning streak of 4 or 5, just pick the matchups that you think look good. Once you get a significant streak, there are a few strategies that you must use to give yourself a higher chance of extending your streak, thus giving you a higher chance of getting the longest streak of the month. Here are a few things you need to do:
- Pick one matchup per day, unless there are a few that look great: The fewer you pick, the lower your chances are of getting a pick wrong. Pick the matchup that seems the most likely to be correct that day.
- Always do research on every matchup: A matchup might look obvious to the naked eye, but once you do a little research, you will realize that it is much closer and harder to pick than it originally seemed. Ways to research a matchup are to look up each teams' home and away records, look up the betting lines according to Vegas, check injury reports, and even check the discussion boards for each prop. Each prop will have a "Discuss" icon near the bottom right of each prop, this is useful because people in these message boards give stats and opinions on what the outcome will be.
- When in doubt, pick the home team: Obviously, this doesn't work all the time, but statistics show that the home team usually has the advantage. Don't do this if the road team is much more superior than the home team, but if the teams are close, usually the home team wins.
- Use common sense: Don't pick matchups you don't feel confident about, you don't need to pick every day. Don't always pick the team with the higher percentage of people picking that respective team. Also, try to stay away from picking your favorite teams, or picking against them. If you pick against them, it will suck, because you have to root against your favorite team!
